The Hashtag moved, the placard was swayed through MUBS and the day finally came. Ahem! The car wash that was dubbed #SaveOurRaymond drive aimed at raising funds for a one Raymond. As early as 9am, students were already armed brushes and all kinds of materials they needed to cleanse as many cars that trekked Panamera Bar where the wash was taking place.
Led by the Guild President H.E Joram Matovu together with the Guild cabinet, students and Miss MUBS contestants ‘raided’ Panamera Bar to save their very own. Students washed all kinds of cars that made their way to the grounds and did so in a very joyful state. After a tedious day, the Raymond’s father was called to receive the money that was collected to help Raymond undergo for a spinal surgery in India.
The total collections at the end day derived from the car wash yielded Shs 2,200,000, then over Shs 1,760,000 from his class, the Mobile Money contribution amounted to shs 460,000 and the Rotaract Club of MUBS collected a whooping shs9,500,000. The total amount at the moment collected by the MUBS students for the #SaveOurRaymond campaign totals to Shs 13,920,000.
Raymond was then ushered into the grounds at about 2pm to thank the selfless students that had labored to see to it that money is collected by all means for his treatment. The day was well attended and the results surely never disappointed.
