Big Brother Hostel in Mukono Bugujju was on fire on Friday evening with piles of huge dry pieces of wood that created a bonfire at the center of the compound threateningly hot, to provide a fireplace for warmth at this year’s Porridge Night party of Uganda Christian University.
Four big saucepans were strategically located at the center of the compound just next to the fire while students came closer one at a time to draw white and millet porridge, mixed with milk and with chocolate into mugs that the organizers, the finalist Bachelor of Public Administration (BPAM), seemed to make a requirement for attendance at the party.
There were scenes of guys fighting for the pieces of meat from roasted goat meat at the barbeque joint, with some missing because the crowd at the night was just overwhelming.
At around midnight cake was cut and a reminiscent chaotic scene engulfed the compound.
A sad scene consumed the evening when the students took a moment of silence to show respect, raising mugs of porridge into space in solidarity for fallen classmate who they expected to be part of the night but could not be after kidney failure robbed them of a friend.
The night, some students intimated to Campus Bee was fun, and full of excitement.
