Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) figure Daudi Kabanda has reportedly enrolled to study law at Uganda Pentecostal University, after months of public ridicule over his academic credentials.
The news was first made public by his political rival, former Aruu County MP Odonga Otto, who mocked the move on social media. “He has gone back to school. To study law,” Otto wrote, adding a jibe about the purpose of education.
Otto also claimed that Kabanda’s security entourage had unsettled some of his fellow students. CampusBee could not independently verify this claim.
Kabanda has not made a formal announcement, but he appeared to confirm the move when he quoted a supporter’s post defending his return to school and described her as “intelligent.” In her post, the supporter argued that Kabanda had made the right choice by first establishing himself in politics and building connections and resources, so that further education would now come more easily.
A recurring line of attack
Kabanda’s education has long been a target for his critics, some of whom have described him as a Senior Six leaver.
Earlier last year, the then ICT and National Guidance Minister Dr Chris Baryomunsi raised the issue during a public disagreement over social media posts by Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
The spat began after Baryomunsi said Muhoozi’s posts did not represent official government positions. Kabanda accused the minister of undermining the army chief. In a reply on X on January 31, 2026, Baryomunsi told Kabanda to “upgrade your education” and to reason like people who had gone to school.
Nine months later, Kabanda appears to be doing just that.
CampusBee has contacted Kabanda and Uganda Pentecostal University to confirm his enrolment and will update this story.
