Professor Aaron Mushengyezi is the new Vice Chancellor of Uganda Christian University after being installed at an e-event at the University’s Main Campus in Mukono.
The Chief Guest at the function was Rt. Rev. Stephen Kazimba Mugalu, the Chancellor of the University. Dr. Mushengyezi promised to uphold the values and norms that have guided the University over the years.
“I am ready to work with humility with the entire UCU staff. I will promote the University and ensure that all those who want to partner with UCU observe our core values,” he said.
He highlighted the fact that the Professors at the University are under paid saying he will ensure that other multiple sources of income are established like a shopping mall in the University to generate income that can be used to increase the salary of professors to Shs. 15M like those in public universities.
He also affirmed that his team will launch an industrial park at Ntawo Land to enable lecturers and learners train in digital studies so as to have reliable online meetings and learnings.
Prof. Aaron Mushengyezi becomes the third Vice Chancellor of Uganda Christian University after replacing Rev. John Senyonyi who has been at the helm for over ten years.
Prior his appointment, he had been the Dean of the School of Languages, Literature, and Communication at Makerere University, where he replaced Prof. Monica Chibita. Both now work at UCU. He is currently also a member of the St. Francis Chapel Council, and the board member of the church cooperative society.
