Tragedy has struck Namasuba after a young TikToker died in a pit latrine while attempting to retrieve his smartphone that had accidentally fallen into the facility.
The deceased had reportedly gone to ease himself when his Tecno smartphone slipped from his sweater pocket and fell into the pit latrine.
According to reports, the phone was still visible and floating on top of the waste, which was reportedly not very deep at the time.
Determined to recover the device, the young man allegedly enlarged the opening of the latrine and entered the pit in an attempt to retrieve his phone.
He reportedly succeeded in reaching the device and picked it up.
However, tragedy struck when he tried to climb out.
The pit latrine reportedly collapsed, causing him to sink deeper into the pit.
Rescue teams called
Firefighters and other rescue teams were later called to the scene after the incident was reported.
Despite the rescue efforts, the young TikToker had unfortunately already died by the time the rescuers reached him.
