Makerere University Vice Chancellor, Prof Barnabas Nawangwe has tasked police to expedite the investigations into the death of Emmanuel Tegu, a Makerere student who was allegedly assaulted by Local Defence Unit (LDU) personnel inside the university.
According to Prof Nawangwe, the University is ready to work with security to ensure the safety of persons and property on campus.
Prof Nawangwe further expressed his condolences to the late Tegu’s family adding that investigations into his sudden death should be quickened so that justice prevails.
Tegu was a third year Bachelor of Animal Production Technology student and a resident of Livingstone hall before he succumbed to injuries at Kiruddu Hospital on Saturday.
Circumstances surrounding the Late Tegu’s death have since been a controversy all across the media where majority of the people account LDU’s responsible however with the police denying the allegations.
So far, a tune of at least 11 people have been arrested in connection to Tegu’s murder and still counting.
