Following the current issues regarding sexual harassment at Makerere University, a wife to Prof Barnabas Nawangwe (Makerere Vice Chancellor) has also come out to join the fight against sex for marks and other sexual harassment related issues.
In her Facebook post, Susan Walakira Nawangwe reveals her plans to engage in talks with students regarding various issues among some of which include sexual harassment. The Makerere alumna who also doubles as wife to Makerere’s Vice Chancellor went ahead to call upon students to open up when approached.
“As a parent, an alumna and mukyala VC, I will support my husband to see that this comes to a permanent end. We are into a program of initiating talks with students on various topical issues including sexual harassment. We would like to encourage students to open up and also share with them testimonies of people who have made it to the top without such compromises”, part of Walakira’s post reads.
In his response, Prof Nawangwe thanked his wife for supporting him. “I thank you my wife, our dear children for always supporting me,” he replied.
It should be recalled that few days ago, Prof Nawangwe revealed his plans to fight sexual harassment in Makerere University, a topic that has given many parents and students in the country sleepless nights.
