After Prof. Pancras John Mukasa Ssebuwufu’s term expired in February this year, Kyambogo University has been without a Chancellor until recently when the President approved Prof. Okedi after being recommended by the Kyambogo University Council on 10th March this year.
According to Prof. Eli Katunguka Rwakishaya – University Vice Chancellor, Prof. John Okedi was appointed by the council and a letter was sent to the president since he is the appointing authority.
He says his appointment was delayed because of the president’s busy schedule but they waited until last week when the president signed the document and sent it back. Prof. Katunguka says that Prof. Okedi has served as the head of the University council and has performed beyond expectations.
“Prof. Okedi is a thorough academician with all the experience that one would wish to have. He served Kyambogo University in different capabilities and performed beyond expectations.” He said.
Prof. Okedi will take on his duties next week, top of which is presiding over ceremonial events of the University.
