The Chaplaincy administration of Thorny Croft Chapel at Uganda Christian University (UCU) donated food to UCU students who are stranded in hostels around Mukono.
The Chaplaincy was led by the UCU chaplain Rev. Eng. Paul Wasswa Ssembiro which aimed at helping students who were unable to travel back to their homes when the president closed all education institutions on 6th June 2021 as a way of curbing the spread of Covid-19.
Some of these students didnt go back to their homes because they were not able to meet the transport fares which were tripled during that time.On feeling empathetic, the chaplaincy decided to aid these students with food relief package which contained a number of items such as posho, beans, soap among others to help them pass through these hard times of the lockdown.
This is a very good gesture from the Chaplaincy, This food is going to take me for the next couple of days in such a period characterized with economic hardships and escalation in prices of essential needs.
Ayesiga Silas one of the beneficiaries appreciated.More than 50 students benefited from this aid and the chaplain promised that they will continue to share the little they have with those in need such as families to ensure that they also live in a better life within this lockdown.
The UCU chaplaincy has also set aside a contact through which individuals can make phone calls to the Ministry team for-Counselling services.
