As government buckles up to reopen the economy, University students are expected to be vaccinated before they return back to campus.
The vaccination information was revealed by State minister for Primary Health Education, Dr Joyce Moriku Kaducu while she was addressing NTV media at the launch of an Innovative and inclusive education program on Thursday for refugees and host communities.
She explained that University students are targeted for the vaccinations owing to the fact that majority (if not all) are above 18 Years of age.
“The most critical thing now is to see our teachers get vaccinated and probably the university students who are above 18 so we can say yes, even if not all, but a good percentage so they can resume and stay at school comfortably” Dr. Kaducu said.
The Minister however didn’t reveal exactly the targeted number of university students who are to benefit from this vaccination move. Uganda is set to receive over 500,000 doses of Covid vaccines at the end of this month.
The country is highly awaiting the president’s address on COVID-19 related matters, slated for today (Friday).
The Minister of health, Dr Ruth Aceng, earlier this week hinted on phased reopening of the lockdown ending today, a move which could likely see final year students and semi-candidates in lower levels of education return back to accomplish their academic years.
