The suspense regarding who the current guild president of Makerere University is has been pushed into the third month.
The hordes of anxious MAK students who thronged the High Court at Twed Towers today to receive the ruling in the case Bazil Mwotta filed challenging the guild elections petition tribunal’s decision canceling some of the votes cast have been left dejected after the same could not be delivered as earlier indicated.
The parties in the case were today morning informed by the Clerk to Justice Musota – the judge in charge of the case – that the ruling could not be given despite earlier communication owing to technical faults of the computer on which the ruling had been stored.
To that end, 2nd June 2016 at 11:00a.m. has been set as the new date for the ruling. However, the students who had gone for the ruling were visibly unamused with the new developments, and some were overheard grumbling about “the snail’s pace with which Court has conducted this otherwise urgent matter.”
