More details have emerged regarding the life of Brenda Wamala Nantogo,27, a daughter to General Katumba Wamala who was shot dead on Tuesday morning on her way to a vigil in Najjanankumbi. The shooting, which claimed Wamala’s driver’s life left him nursing bullet wounds.
Nantogo was the fourth born to Katumba who studied at Green Hill Academy before she went to Nabisunsa Girls School for her secondary school. She studied both her undergraduate and Master’s Degree in Public Health at Savannah Atlanta University in the United States of America (USA).
The deceased last year returned to Uganda and secured herself a job at a US-based Non-Government Organisation (NGO), Campus Bee has learnt.
According to family members, Nantogo and her father were travelling to Najjanankumbi to attend the vigil of her grandmother before they were shot at by unknown assailants.
“Brenda was going back to Najjanakumbi this morning with her father. When I heard the news, I didn’t want to believe it. We all didn’t believe it”, Lydia Watuka, a niece to Gen Katumba said.
Watuka described Brenda as a friendly soul who was quiet and reserved.
While speaking about Nantongo’s death, John Mukiibi, another family member revealed that the news has left them with too much pain.
“Losing two close family members at the same time is too much. Mama is in pain and she will find it hard to recover. We were preparing to attend her mother’s funeral, not her daughter’s. This is too much pain for all of us,” he said.
