Joseph Mugabi, a young brother to slain International Hospital of Kampala (IHK) Doctor Cathy Agaba was left in tears and stranded following the brutal murder of his sister. While speaking at the deceased’s requiem Mass at Our Lady of Africa Catholic Church in Mbuya yesterday, Mugabi revealed that he was supposed to live at Dr Agaba’s residence during the time of filling application forms for admission to Kyambogo University.
While revealing that he was the first person to notice Agaba’s disappearance, Mugabi added that he still finds a hard time believing that the life of his sweet sister is no more.
“ It’ so sad seeing our sister lying in a coffin in front of us. Our sister did not deserve to die like this,” Mugabi emotionally said.
Dr Agaba had been a medical officer at International Hospital of Kampala for the last 15 months while working at the Emergency Unit. The deceased applied for leave on April 9 and promised to spend her Easter holiday with family members. Little did she know that she will be murdered on April 12, a week before the planned holiday.
Also present at the requiem mass was Dr Anthony Ekwaro Obuku, the president of Uganda Medical Association, who described Dr Agaba as a young, brilliant, hard-working woman full of life and above all with a promising future.
Agaba’s body was found in a septic tank on Monday in Muyenga B Zone, Makindye Division. According to Police, a former watchman at the Hospital confessed killing Agaba for allegedly reporting him to his boss for absenteeism from duty.
