Today (1st March 2021) several Makerere University Business School (MUBS) first year students were captured congested despite the tough COVID-19 guidelines issued by the Ministry of Education and Sports for all universities planning to reopen.
Majority of students were however seen wearing face masks but even those without masks were allowed to attend the first orientation activity.
The students were photographed on campus while undergoing their orientation and touring around the university premises. The exercise was led by the MUBS staff alongside guild representatives who showed them around the university premises ahead of serious lectures expected to kick off on Friday, 5th March.
While giving a greenlight on the reopening of universities starting 1st March 2021, President Museveni advised institutions to observe COVID-19 prevention measures like social distancing, wearing of face masks, sanitizing, among others.
Makerere University main campus in Wandegeya last week barred our reporters from accessing the orientation rooms with cameras, and it was later discovered that congestion and ignoring COVID-19 prevention measures is the new normal at the hill.
MUBS’ four-day orientation ceremony that kicked off today will continue until Thursday, 4th March 2021.
We will keep you posted!
