Soroti University welcomes Mr. Oscar Onap as its newly elected Guild President following a highly contested election.
Onap, a third-year student of medicine, emerged victorious in the race, becoming the third guild president of the Teso-based institution.
The Guild Electoral Commission declared Onap Oscar the winner after a closely watched two-man contest.
Onap secured 256 votes, representing an impressive 68.27% of the total votes cast. His opponent, Baker Samuel, garnered 117 votes, representing 31.20% of the electorate.
Replacing outgoing guild president Mr. Stanley Nakahaima, Onap steps into his new role with a clear mandate from the student body. His victory signifies a vote of confidence from his peers in his ability to lead and represent their interests effectively.
Naijuka Faith, has also been sworn in as the female Vice Guild President. Together, they will work collaboratively to address the needs and concerns of Soroti University students, fostering a conducive academic environment and promoting student welfare.
