Do you know what is happening behind those “fancy” blue iron sheets that have barricaded the Ivory Tower, at the hill of “unending opportunities” ? Or if I die I die ?
On the 4th of November, Maseruka Robert and I took an uninvited trip to the scared Ivory tower. We walked in through the barricaded walls like the Makerere students that we are. Nodded at the security guard and he smiled. Maseruka had already obtained his dominance. Speaking to the guard like he owned half the hill, or majority of it at least.

So without paper work, a gashing smile from me and a praise to the guard by Maseruka, these two unqualified masker-tiers were in the den of half awake lions.
The guard at this point was in this tale Maseruka had created. We joked about the Dstv dish that has been erected at the half dead tower and jested about how the constructors were busy in the tales of Arsenal this season than laying bricks to the tower. He said no one enters that building. We both laughed and continued peeping at the construction works. He let down his guard and we took the opportunity to walk around the premises as it was down pouring.

In the short heavy drizzle, the men continued to work, we continued to take unauthorized pictures. From the angle we stood from, we could clearly see the emphasis being put on the foundation of the building. But it has been close to eight months since the building had been given to Excel construction for demolishing and renovation. And much as the top guns of Makerere promised that it would be ready before the 8th of October, we can now say that top guns make the loudest outfire because the new movement has no permanent new brick to its name.
Our short adventure was rather interrupted by a worker , who claimed we had no authority to be there. But again, this is Fidel and Maseruka…and these people have no idea how far we can go to keep you informed. Do not let the silence fool you, work is going on even in the rain and even if it takes a decade, hopefully the ivory will stand once more.
