The three students who were suspended from Makerere University for mobilizing a demonstration have been released on a cash bail of two hundred thousand shillings each.
The trio was also charged before Buganda Road court with trespass at the University premises and taking part in an unlawful assembly.
The three students are Frank Bwambale, David Musiri and Roy Rugumayo who were suspended by the University administrators on September 12th, 2018 when they were allegedly found in Nkrumah hall of residence planning a demonstration, something that the university administrators thought would cause chaos and interrupt the institution’s programs.
They are also accused of being part of a group that masterminds a series of riots to protest the 15 per cent tuition increment by the University Council in agreement with the 84th Guild leadership.
While defending themselves before Grade one magistrate, Ms Joan Ketty Acaa , the three students have denied the charges before they were granted bail. They have been ordered to return to court on October 4 2018 when their trial will kick off.
