Kampala police are searching for Rose Turindamukama after her 22-year-old roommate, TikToker Jovia Namuwulya, was found dead inside their rented room in Bukoto.
Namuwulya, who worked as a waitress and was known on TikTok as Jovia1235, was discovered on August 20, 2026, after relatives became concerned when she stopped responding to their phone calls.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Racheal Kawala, Namuwulya was a resident of Mukalazi Zone, Bukoto I Parish in Nakawa Division and had rented the room about seven months before her death.
Police said Turindamukama moved into the room after visiting Namuwulya about three months later, and the two subsequently lived together.
On August 20, Namuwulya’s relatives contacted the caretaker after failing to reach her. The caretaker and Namuwulya’s sister went to the room but found it locked.
Kawala said they looked through the window and noticed blood stains inside the room.
“Looking through the window they observed blood stains inside the room. They subsequently accessed the room and found Jovia lying in a pool of blood,” Kawala said.
Police were called to the scene and Namuwulya’s body was taken to City Mortuary for a postmortem examination.
However, Turindamukama was nowhere to be found when the body was discovered.
“Her friend Turindamukama Rose couldn’t be found and is currently being sought in connection with the incident,” Kawala said.
Police have not yet confirmed the circumstances surrounding Namuwulya’s death, including the motive or who was responsible.
Authorities have also cautioned against relying on competing accounts circulating on social media before investigators establish what happened.
Investigations into the death are ongoing as police continue their search for Turindamukama and work to establish the circumstances that led to Namuwulya’s death.
