Unsurprisingly, once more, traditional schools have dominated the top performers in the just released Makerere University Law Pre-Entry exam results. The exam, according to Prof Ben Twinomugisha who was Dean at the School of Law when the recommendation to begin pre-entries was forwarded to management, was put in place to check the students’ readiness to pursue the course amid rampant allegations of malpractice at S. 6 across the country. Initially, they considered the best performers at S.6.
Traditional schools that maintained the holistic kind of education even when fast rising private schools have been constantly emerging best performers in national exams will have the final laugh with the release of this year’s pre entry exam results after their students dominated the best performance list.
Among the top 10 best performers, there was just one student that would fall outside the usual bracket of traditional schools and he came a distant 8th. The rest of the Best 10 students are from the usual traditional schools that we may in times to come consider to hate for excellence year in, year out. As earlier reported, the best student was Taremwa Victor Andrew from St. Mary’s College, Kisubi who scored 75%.
Closely following was Mumbere Amos from Ntare School, Mbarara who scored 71%, Kahooro Aneesah from Trinity College, Nabbingo came third with 70% and Oyesigye Ivan of Uganda Martyrs SSS, Namugongo who scored 69%. Ankunda Bridget from Mt. St. Mary’s Namagunga sealed the top five with 68%.
The students consisted the 1758 A-Level leavers who registered for and actually sat the paper consequently getting the best student overall with 75% and the worst student overall with 18% making the range a whooping 57%.
