As the number of COVID-19 cases continue to multiply, Uganda is also registering deaths from several parts of the country. Sad news reaching our desk indicates Ann Birungi Katushabe, a Makerere University fresh graduate of Arts in Social Sciences has succumbed to the deadly COVID-19 few weeks after her wedding and graduation ceremonies.
More details indicate that Birungi, a resident of Engari Sub County in Kazo District breathed her last on Wednesday, 9th June 2021. Information regarding her burial remains scanty but being a COVID-19 related death, Birungi’s send off will be led by her district’s COVID-19 taskforce.
Campus Bee has obtained screen shots of a conversation between Birungi and her close pal who was asking why she was lost. In her reply, Birungi texted that “I’m about to die” in a chat she attached a photo of her breathing on life support.
According to the Ministry of Health statistics, the cumulative confirmed cases are now 55,511 with 402 deaths.
Stay safe folks!
