21-year-old Tucker Kibirige, alias Tucker HD is a third year student at MUBS pursuing a Bachelors Degree in International Business. On Tuesday, he released a song dubbed #CAMPU that trended on twitter and other social media platforms. He talks about his life as both a campus student and a recording artiste and member or AirporTaxi.
Briefly tell us about our latest hit single #CAMPU
CAMPU is another single from Tucker HD of AirporTaxi, produced by the
now unstoppable Samurae from Talentafrica Studios. It was released
under the Tucker Tuesday series, that saw the release of BURN in June
What inspired you to write that song?
Well the song is about the daily lifestyle of a campus student. There
has been a lot of online presence and tabloid stories in regard to
issues concerning University students lately. I felt it was only right
to put out a song that explored all the events occurring at campus,
the good, the bad..and the sextapes.
Which hostel do you think has the hottest girls?
Actually …the University Halls have the flyest, hottest girls,
people need to pay more attention. But the girls in the hostels are
pretty hot too, you know!
What do you make of campus girls?
Quite interesting people to be around, they’re all kinds of them, all
different sides to what people know as the stereotype campus girl.
There’s much more to them than that.
Which instruments do you play?
I’m a little bit short on that area at the moment, not much I can
play, but not much I can’t learn either.
Is your family musical?
Yes, to a certain extent, I think everyone is musical…but don’t be
expecting a family single anytime soon.
Who are your favorite musicians, locally and internationally?
In Uganda, that’d have to be Evon & Ruyonga. Globally, it’s Kendrick
Lamar & Drake.
What has been your most embarrassing moment at campus?
None really, except a girl I was introduced to that swore Tucker was a
girl’s name, now that was embarrassing …for both of us.
How do you balance your music with books?
It’s quite challenging I’d say..you just have to prioritize, and
allocate equal or adequate time and attention to both.
On a typical Friday night, where does one find you?
It’d be hard to find me, but on a typical Friday ..I’m tuned in to
Livewire on RadioCity 97 FM with Deejay Jo, Sal & McKenzie. I’m more
of the, indoor person, I feel clubs are overrated, though I do go out
and hang with my people once in a while.
Have you had any weird or funny encounter with your fans out there?
None that I can remember, I’m probably too, lost in the moment to
notice, it’s always an amazing experience meeting someone that’s
passionate about your music.
Which university do you think has the
hottest babes and why?
That’d have to be MUBS…hands down, no debating that. Why? Coz it
DOES have the hottest babes..the rest should catch up.
What do you learn from the UCU sextape, that went viral last week?
Nothing much..just that you have to know your priorities, do what
you’re supposed to. It’s just that different people have different
priorities too. Like I said, “folks do what they’re determined to do.”
Briefly describe your campu life?
Haha nothing extraordinary..just like everyone else’s, quite fun..
only difference is that I have my classes in the evening, so I can
squeeze in a few more hours of sleep, some into studio too during
How did AirpoTaxi meet?
AirporTaxi was born in July 2011. Martha Smallz, Llyboc & I emerged
winners out of more than 300 contestants at the Talentafrica Urban
Star Search, which had run from May that year. We later got signed to
Any future plans as a single artiste?
At the moment, none whatsoever, it hasn’t crossed my mind..AirporTaxi
is growing into a stronger & more powerful force musically each day.
I’ll pass that one on to the future.
Your last words to your fans out there.
I’d like to big up all of them, and everyone vouching for Ugandan
music, we appreciate your support. And I encourage them to keep
believing in themselves, whatever profession, whatever dreams, it’s
