Makerere University senate has agreed to confer an Honorary Doctorate of Laws upon Turkish President Recep Erdogan following his recommendation by the university’s honorary awards committee.
The visiting president is being recognized for “his contribution to serving humanity, peace building, as well as his partnership in the development of Makerere University”.
Lamp poles on Makerere’s university road have been decorated with the Turkish Flag in anticipation of the President’s visit.
The awarding ceremony is to be presided over by Dr. Ezra Suruma, the university Vice Chancellor, today 4pm in the main building.
