Information reaching our news desk confirms, two Makerere University students alongside suspended university researcher, Dr Stella Nyanzi have today morning been arrested during a protest over Emmanuel Tegu’s death.

The three were arrested as they were, marching to parliament to present a petition demanding justice for the deceased Makerere student, Emmanuel Tegu who, on 4th July, succumbed to injuries at Mulago Hospital which he sustained after he was allegedly beaten to pulp by security guards inside the university premises on the night of 27th June 2020.

On Friday July 10, Makerere St Augustine chapel which is situated around the scene where Emmanuel Tegu’s assault happened, released a CCTV footage which captured the events that happened before Emmanuel Tegu was beaten. The footage had for over 3 days been hidden from the media and public which sparked uproar and criticism as to why it had been hidden for all that time.

Since then, students and activists have been demanding for justice to the deceased accusing Police of being responsible for Tegu’s death and were(police) trying to cover up the murder case.
