News reaching our desks from Uganda Christian University is that a one Akandinda Akampororo Cathy, a first year student at the university was arrested for allegedly stealing laptops from her fellow hostel residents.
Cathy who was helping a friend at MAK to sit for exams, failed to pay back the money at the time of the deadline.
According to news around campus, Cathy is known for having allegedly stolen 20 laptops.
As told by a source
“Cathy who resides at Soso Courts borrowed money (shs800,000) for a friend who had failed to pay her tuition in time for exams. This friend is a student at Makerere university but lives in Rwanda. When the deadline reached and she (Cathy) and her friend (who by now had already returned to Rwanda) failed to pay; and because she had no security, she started asking for laptops from her hostel mates (boys) in the guise of wanting to do her coursework and in turn sold them to raise money to pay up the loan.
Yesterday, some of the people whose laptops had been borrowed and had not yet received them took the case to UCU police post leading to her arrest.
The police later called her mother to come to the university and settle the case and bailed her out.
Cathy is known at campus as someone who is from a well-to-do family and no one expected this from her.”
