Uganda Christian University (UCU) has been served with a notice of intention to institute execution proceedings against it for failure to pay damages accrued in 2018.
During the Yasin Sentumbwe Munagomba & Anor Vs UCU High Court Misc. Cause No.22 Of 2016, on the 17th of January 2018, the university lost the court battle and the plaintiff has seen no compensation to date.
The High Court of Mukono awarded multiple reliefs inclusive of damages and costs to Yasin Sentumbwe Munagomba and Semuwemba Simon as successful applicants in High Court Misc. Cause No.22 of 2016.
“The orders stipulated therein the judgment were clear and unambiguous and do not need abstruse interpretation. The above notwithstanding, the University has tremendously defaulted on payment of damages, and interest thereon, in spite of numerous demands by us, till we deem fit not to write any more,” the plaintiffs noted.
It is feared that UCU could lose property and attachment of its Bank accounts for default of paying court awards
“Take notice that we intend to institute execution proceedings against Uganda Christian University and hopefully attach in any desired manner, in a bid to serve the ends of justice, if we fail to have any constructive action from you within two (2) weeks from the date of receipt of this letter,” they cautioned.
