Shubrah Naiga Kasozi, 22, a UCU fourth year Law student was on 21st March listed by Sunday Vision among the “Top 40 women under 40 years”. According to the article, Naiga has dedicated her life to ensuring less privilaged women live decent lives by helping them start small businesses.
Naiga, who also doubles as the President for National Rule of Law Youth Council has also been a leaning shoulder to molested girls as well as teenage mothers.
Naiga has managed to gather funds from her friends which she gives to the women as capital to start up small businesses. The 22 year old student started a project dubbed ‘Banana Project’ where she gave UGX 100,000 to each of the 30 women to hawk bananas in Kampala and earn a living.
Naiga now brings together over 500 university students from across the country by helping them get information on how to stay away from the COVID-19 pandemic under the campaign ‘Students Against COVID-19″ that she launched in lockdown. Creating better life spaces as well as sobriety among students have been some of the fruits harvested from Naiga’s efforts.
