A sigh of relief flew across the Uganda Christian University (UCU) Community yesterday as news about the release of one of their lecturers a one Mr. Jonathan Mwesigwa from Police custody reached the staff and students’ fraternity.
Mwesigwa, a lecturer at the Mukono-based institution, was recently arrested by security agencies and detained at Kireka Police Station to assist Police with investigations concerning an article he published on his Facebook page titled “Mengo chose cars over Federo to fight COVID-19”.
In this article, the lawyer alleged that the President of the Republic of Uganda, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni had bribed the Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Mwenda Mutebi with cars for both him and the Ministers of Mengo so that they could stop pushing for Buganda’s Federo.
However as of yesterday, Mr. Mwesigwa through his Facebook account announced that he had been finally released from the S.I.D. Safe house in Kireka by the Ugandan Security Agencies. He promised to stay loyal to finding answers to the Buganda Question till God decides that he departs this world.
We shall keep you posted about any further developments on this story!
