The old adage Politics is a dirty game has just put friendships to trial again, friend rising against friend, foe to battle against foe to the “death” until one finally emerges victor while the other will drown in the political waters.
Guild elections are known to be the most luxurious events at any university with the contestants, the most dominant being the guild presidential race, displaying lots of fancy cars and expensive campaign strategies. Some universities like MAK accepting parties, while UCU completely rejects campaigns in line with national political parties. However, all in all, people will be going to the polls to exercise their constitutional right to vote.
The UCU electoral commission is inviting applicants for posts in the guild including Guild President, MPs for both residents and the non-residents, MP for international students, and MPs for the different faculties at the university.
Already the people showing intentions for the guild race are swarming underground, popularizing their faces among the students with tiny posters being displayed in every corner of the university simply reading “X Welcomes you for the Advent Semester” including their images and slogans, making their intentions suspicious to the community before official campaigns have been declared.
The following is a table showing the different dates leading to the election of the guild officials.
