Uganda Christian University (UCU) students have been thrown into panic after the newly installed Vice Chancellor Prof Aaron Mushengyezi Tuesday afternoon announced that the Take Home exams will be conducted mid this month.
Prof Mushengyezi revealed that the exams will be conducted from September 15th to October 15th. “Take home exams will be rolled out on 15th Sept-Oct 15th, and the University will be opened online on 15th Oct for the new and continuing students,” he announced.
The students have decried the short notice announcement and contend that they have been home for over five months and it is practically not possible to prepare and be ready for exams in just two weeks. “For Christ’s sake, we have even forgotten what we studied because we have been home for too long. Even if they say we had enough time to revise, 5 months is too long for one to be ready for an exam even with the intensive revision. We need to emotionally be ready,” one of the students expressed their readiness.
In April, the management of UCU suspended the Easter semester online exams in compliance with a directive from the Ministry of Education and Sports after students complained and petition the Speaker of Parliament, Alitwala Rebecca Kadaga on the same.
