Uganda Christian University Faculty of Law (UCU Law) will be representing Uganda and Africa in the global moot competition in Geneva after emerging the among the top four teams in the African Regional Rounds of the John H. Jackson World Trade Organization (WTO) moot competition that took place today, the 23rd April 2020.
The moot was organized by the European Law Students Association (ELSA) in partnership with the World Trade Organization, IE University and Georgetown Law.
Teams that make it to the semi – final automatically qualify for the global grounds as four teams are to represent Africa. A total of 20 teams from all over the world will participate in the global rounds in Geneva.
The running national lockdowns due to Covid 19 count not stop the continuance of the rounds as they were conducted online. The regional competitions took place today online, via Microsoft Teams web – based application.
UCU Law was represented by 4 law students Sebulibe Isaac, Jemimah Jehopio, Nekesa Veronica and Kasobya Bridget from from UCU Kampala Campus. The university however did not qualify for the final rounds, but a position in the semi final got them a slot in the international rounds.
