Ugandan content creator Rashid Lumunye has won AED100,000, approximately Shs100 million, after emerging as the winner of the Best Dubai-It Story category in a Dubai storytelling competition.
Lumunye, who is based in the United Arab Emirates, beat thousands of entries to claim the grand prize after sharing his personal journey and experiences in Dubai.
His victory was announced during a live finale of The Lovin Dubai Show, where he competed against fellow finalists Mariana Mustafina and Maymi Asgari.
The competition was part of the #Dubai_It campaign, which invited UAE residents to share stories of personal transformation, achievements, challenges and experiences in the emirate.
According to the organisers, Lumunye’s story stood out for its focus on resilience, self-belief and hard work.
Following the announcement, the Ugandan creator celebrated his win by calling a family member and promising to take them for Umrah in December.
Lumunye has built a sizeable following through his social media content highlighting life in Dubai and the wider UAE. His TikTok account has amassed more than 650,000 followers.
His content covers a range of subjects, including tourism, work, culture and opportunities available in the UAE, while also showcasing his experiences as a Ugandan living abroad.
Over the years, Lumunye has also secured opportunities to travel to Dubai and other destinations through content-related sponsorships.
The #Dubai_It campaign is linked to a broader initiative launched by Dubai ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in June 2026, which promotes turning ideas and ambitions into tangible results through action and execution.
