On 30th April, University of Kisubi registered its first win in the tenth edition of the Pepsi University Football league, increasing their chances of a possible breakthrough from the group stages after failing to make it in the 2019 debut campaign.
In a match that was hosted in Arua, University of Kisubi managed to register a 3-1 win after an intense display against the Arua boys.
Xerxious Kibirige scored the first goal in the 10th minute from a free kick from the right side of the 18 yard box where he curved in a heavy ball past the goal keeper who couldn’t punch away it’s entire weight.
Muni University boys responded with thrilling counter attacks that saw them attain a penalty kick which Mulindwa John Bosco, University of Kisubi’s goalkeeper was able to save.
The second half started with Muni’s continued attacks until they finally equalized courtesy of Odongo Vincent’s brilliant shot in the 49th minute.
The equalizer might have been a good motivation for the Arua boys, but it became a check point for University of Kisubi as they tightened their defence and plotted an attacking formula that saw Tumusiime Frank score the second goal in the 67th minute and Kateregga Lawrence seal the deal with a third goal in the 81st minute.
This sets University of Kisubi in the third position of group B after Makerere University Business School (MUBS) which is leading the table with six points and Nkumba University that is second with three points.
Muni University remains at the bottom of the table with no points after two games.
