A group of about 200 students from universities across Uganda including (but not limited to) Makerere University, MUBS – Nakawa, Kyambogo University, Uganda Christian University (UCU), Kampala International University (KIU) and Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) last weekend paid a visit to Holy Innocents Hospital, a childrens’ hospital in Nyamitanga Mbarara, donated items and cleaned it for charity.
The students’ under their umbrella association Bwera-Ntare which brings together old students of Ntare School Mbarara and Bweranyangi Girls’ Secondary School in Bushenyi, had been on their annual retreat where they give back to their schools and the neighbouring institutions.
Besides, the children’s hospital donation, the students donated 25 literature books to the Ntare School library and shs500,000 towards a school fees program at Bweranyangi Girls’ Secondary School.
The group was led by their association President Ray Bwambale of Makerere University and his vice Mackline Asiimire, who is also the Makerere University Business School (MUBS) Guild Vice President.
Besides the giving back and charity, the students engaged in co-curricular activities with the younger ones in the respective schools and also held career guidance talks with them.
