Uganda National Students’ Association (UNSA) vice president, Gold Ikyiriza, has been appointed to the Advisory Board of the World Youth Democracy for Empowerment (WYDE), the highest youth engagement body in the project.
This prestigious appointment is a significant milestone for Ikyiriza and a remarkable achievement for Ugandan youth advocacy.
In her new role, Gold Ikyiriza is tasked with fostering greater advocacy for youth participation in democratic governance, promoting fair electoral reforms, and driving societal transformation.
The WYDE Civic Engagement Youth Advisory Board, which she joins, is composed of young beneficiaries from various activities and serves a one-year mandate.
Board members are expected to advise the management team and participate in steering committees with the European Union, ensuring that youth perspectives are included in decision-making processes.
Gold Ikyiriza is a finalist at Makerere University Kampala, pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences with a major in Psychology and a minor in Gender Studies.
Her leadership journey and dedication to advocacy have positioned her as a dynamic leader committed to inclusive democracy, quality education, and gender equality.
Notably, Ikyiriza was recognized as the best student of NIMD cohort 1 and has actively engaged in various youth spaces across Uganda. Her vision for a world full of opportunities for young people aligns perfectly with the objectives of the WYDE project.
