Golf is one of the most respected sports of all time. It is a game the affluent play for leisure. The Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) partnered with the Uganda Golf Union to promote golf tours.
Uganda has about 28 golf courses which are located in areas with tourist attractions. Tourism is a chain, from hotels to transport means to lead the tourists to the attraction sites. The Uganda tourism board is, therefore, using the opportunity of this sport to promote tourism to not only to the international world but also the locals through the golfers.
On 5th April 2019, 69 golfers set off to Mbale the land of the Bagishu where the first golf tour happened. The team was accommodated at the Wash and Will hotel in Mbale where they were given subsided prices for accommodation. The golfers enjoyed their finest course at the Mbale sports club and after enjoying their game, they set off to Wanale hill for a tour. The hill was an experience for many of the golfers who hadn’t climbed the hill to its very top. It was quite both an exercise and an experience for many
On Sunday, the golfers set off to Kapchorwa which less is than an hour’s drive from Mbale to see the magnificent Sipi falls. Aside from the falls, the winding roads alone give a scenic view to die for. At the falls, the golfers were able to play under them and also take pictures “drinking the Sipi.”
