The Ministry of Education is now set to re-open schools and institutions of higher education, the State Minister for Higher Education, Dr John Chrysostom Muyingo has revealed.
This comes after numerous attempts to re-open schools with different approaches inclusive of which, opening for candidates, partial opening for Universities as was earlier suggested by the Cabinet.
Dr Muyingo has now taken a stand point saying the Education Ministry deployed teams of experts across the country who are on ground to assess which schools are prepared to open or not.
“For us as the ministry, we are waiting for guidance from the ministry of Health. We are set to start provided the ministry of Health gives us a go ahead.” Dr Muyingo said.
“We have a team of education inspectors who are in the field to find out whether our institutions are prepared so that they also contribute to the final decision whether schools will be reopened or not,”he said” he added.
The Minister however, did not disclose the exact date when the schools will open saying that the Ministry of Health will be the one to determine the particular time when this will happen with a go-ahead . He also urged the citizens to have it in mind that that the government is ensuring everyone’s safety from the deadly pandemic that has devastated nations.
