Makerere University has secured funds for the second installment of food and living out allowances for government sponsored students that has been outstanding since 12th February, 2020 when the first installment was sent to students.
In a letter dated 5th March, 2020, Yusuf Kiranda, the acting University Bursar says that the process which involves the transfer of funds from the Integrated Finance Management System (IFMS) to the Subvention Account in Stanbic Bank from where payment is made directly to individual student bank accounts has been completed and that the finance department has already initiated the process of payment to eligible students.
According to Kiranda, the second and final installment of payments to be made covers 50% of the money for food allowance for government sponsored students and the same percentage for food allowance for students with disabilities.
He urged government students to ensure that they are enrolled on the Academic Information Management System (AIMS) as the information used for payments of the allowances is directly generated from AIMS. He also added that, students who are not enrolled on AIMS shall not receive their allowances until enrolment.
