Social activist and wife to Kiiza Besigye Winnie Byanyima has been awarded an honorary doctorate (Doctor of Humane Letters) by Mt St Vincent’s University in Canada. The event happened last Sunday as the Canadian University added a doctorate to her mechanical and aeronautical engineering degree. The excited Byanyima updates us about her plans to jet off for Canada via her twitter and continued to update when she reached.
At the same function, Mt St Vincents’s University held the installation of 13th President and Vice-Chancellor for their institution, “Chancellor & Vice-Chancellor of Mt St Vincent’s Univ, after a degree of DHumL was conferred on me. Humbling” Byanyima tweeted shortly after receiving her honors.
Besides receiving her degree, Byanyima was also given an opportunity to address the event revelers where she delivered her speech. Her speech was rotating around economic inequality something she thinks is intersecting with gender inequality.
The mechanical and aeronautical engineering degree holder made headlines in the Canadian news avenues as most media houses quoted her speech.
