After the Electoral Commission yesterday declined to nominate John Katumba for failing to provide proof of payment of the UGX 20M nomination fee, the youngest Presidential candidate has today payed the fee.
Katumba, a fresh Makerere University graduate has showed off proof of payment after depositing the money through DTB Bank. According to the DTB cheque that Campus Bee has seen, Katumba paid the money at 9.01am all in cash.
Katumba’s journey to nominations was yesterday characterized by drama as he was spotted running to the nomination venue in Kyambogo University after his car suffered a puncture in Nakawa.
While defending himself why he didn’t pay the UGX 20 million in time, the 24-year-old aspiring presidential candidate confessed that he was asked by the bank to provide proof of employment yet he is an unemployed graduate, adding that he had the money in cash.
Today, the electoral commission has nominated Kyadondo East Legislator Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu alias Bobi Wine, FDC’sPatrick Amuriat, among others.
If nominated, Katumba will join other nominated candidates like President Museveni, Mugisha Muntu, Henry Tumukunde, who were nominated yesterday.
