Giant Video Streaming/Sharing platform YouTube has removed a video made by Mbarara University’s Prof. Patrick Ogwang, the inventor of Coronavirus treatment herb COVIDEX, over what “Medical Policy violation”
The incident happened today following numerous videos of Prof Ogwangs interviews regarding the COVIDEX found their way to their platform.
Named “How to use COVIDEX” by the professor, the video which was instructing users on how to administer the COVIDEX herb was taken down regardless of rapid growing viewership.
The company (YouTube) justified their action as a way to stop circulation of misinformation of topics related to COVID-19 and medicines in that regard. They also say, Prof Ogwang’s assertions contradict the World Health Organization standards.
“Our team reviewed your content, and unfortunately we think it violates our medical misinformation policy,” YouTube said, in a statement.
“We know that this might be disappointing, but its important to us that YouTube remains a safe place for all. If content breaks our rules, we remove it” the company added.
The COVIDEX herbal drug invented by Prof Ogwang was cleared by National Drug Authority days ago and has since remained a popular word-on-mouth amongst the public due to its effectiveness.
Information concerning COVID-19 or its treatment medicines has been strongly regulated on various platforms such as Twitter, Facebook among others as a way to curb mis-information on the web.
