Dr. Kizza Besigye has been tested and proven for the last 15yrs.
He has suffered all forms of state harassment and raw brutality. When rape charges were concocted against him, he pushed on.nWhen he was teargassed and pepper-sprayed inside his car to near blindness, he pushed on.
Not once did he abandon the struggle to liberate Ugandans from the tyranny and cruelty visited on them under the auspices of President Museveni’s Government.
He never gave up the fight for the common man. He never backed down.
Meanwhile, Hon. Mbabazi was looking on. He never gave up looking on, even though as Prime Minister he was in position to reign in the Minister of Internal Affairs with a view to stopping the merry violation of Dr. Besigye’s and other citizens’ rights by state security organs over which the Minister had/has control.
It is only after he was dropped as Prime Minister that he began humming a different tune. That he began criticizing human rights violations. That he began seeing that the P. O. M. A Act was being selectively [mis] applied by police. Before then, he was as silent as a graveyard.
One need not be an opposition-leaning person to see who of the former contestants for the TDA glag-bearership was more deserving and trustworthy. Give me Kiiza Besigye any day.
