These youth made a commitment as 40 days over 40 smiles to help Elohim Child Development Association located in Bombo to construct a dormitory block that will accommodate 30 girls, the target amount for the dorm construction is shs20m.

Croak and rhyme is a simply another social event organized by 40days 40 smiles team to help fundraise for the building of a dormitory block to house these unfortunate girls who dance for a living, this comes after the first fundraiser that took place at MAK sports ground #GHC4040FieldDay where shs5m was collected and the dorm building was kick started. Croak & Rhyme will take place on Friday 3rd July at the Uganda Museum, where entrance will be UGX 10,000 only, thus UGX 15mn is expected.

The #Croak&Rhyme is already trending and this year’s croak and rhyme theme is ‘Past Meets Present’, when I asked 40-40’s team leader Ms.Esther Kalenzi about the chosen theme she said; “Our theme is ‘Past meets Present’ so we can bring music from the past and pay them homage and also to celebrate the new artistes.” “ The highlight is ordinary fans get to be on the big stage too, we shall have karaoke and also winners of an on air singing competition on Xfm will get to sing with their favourite stars,” she added.
Croak & rhyme is not only a social networking event but also an event to fundraise for the betterment of other people in society, in this case, the dancing children of Elohim.

“We have a surprise artist from the past that we shall unveil this week. For now, we have Maddox Sematimba who is a legend,” Esther reveals, “and Qute Kaye who has been off the radar for so long.” Other artists that will be at Croak & Rhyme are; Mun G, Naava, Canaan Gents, Sauti ya Africa, The Mith, Maro, Benezeri, Shine, Ruyonga, JC Muyonjo and Sam Kimera. Poets will also grace the occasion with their mind blowing scribbled lines full of life, dynamism and humour they will leave you stunned all this and more for just Shs.10, 000 plus you get to help in the building of a dormitory for children with no shelter somewhere in Luweero.

If you are a student away on recess, fieldwork, field placement or internship and are unable to attend Croak & Rhyme, but would love to give in something, there are other ways in which you can contribute to this great cause such as sending your contribution through 0704818607 and 0777499991, “It doesn’t matter how small the donation/contribution is, together, we make a bigger impact”- Esther Kalenzi. Come, let’s create the change we want to see, let’s not jump to the branches but start from the roots, by helping children in need, the future leaders of tomorrow, the fuel to the fire that is already burning, you too can build a dorm, all you have to do is carry Shs.10, 000 and attend #Croak&Rhyme at the Uganda Museum on 3rd July.
