A state-of-the-art sports complex is set to be unveiled this Saturday in Rwashamaire, Ntungamo District, as part of the Coffee Africa Park, a groundbreaking initiative that blends agriculture, athletics, and community development. Presidents Yoweri Museveni of Uganda and William Ruto of Kenya are expected to officiate at the launch during the first-ever Coffee Marathon.

At the heart of the park’s long-term vision is a modern sports infrastructure designed to nurture rural talent and elevate Uganda’s athletic potential. Spearheaded by Inspire Africa Group, the complex will include a 2,000-seater stadium with a professional athletics track, scheduled for completion by October 2025 to coincide with the annual Coffee Festival.

The facility will also feature:

  • A football team aiming to join Uganda’s national football calendar

“This is a transformational moment for rural sports in Uganda,” said Dr. Nelson Tugume, CEO of Inspire Africa. “We’re not just celebrating coffee, we’re investing in the next generation of athletes who come from the very communities that grow this country’s most valuable export.”

Athletics icon and marathon ambassador Dorcus Inzikuru commended the initiative for its bold ambition. “It’s rare to see this level of investment in rural sporting infrastructure. This could be a breeding ground for Uganda’s next champions,” she noted.

The Coffee Africa Park aims to become a hub for tourism, education, and athletic excellence in western Uganda, giving local youth access to training and exposure previously out of reach.

The Coffee Marathon, which features 5km, 10km, 21km, and 42km race categories, will raise funds to support rural women in Uganda’s coffee value chains. Thousands of runners are expected to participate, with the event culminating in a major concert featuring top regional artists.

As construction begins on the new facility, the Coffee Africa Park stands as a symbol of integrated rural development—where sports, agriculture, and empowerment converge.
