The University Football League (UFL) Disciplinary Committee has today, October 30, suspended Kyambogo University soccer team from competing.
UFL’s decision implies that Kyambogo has been automatically disqualified from this year’s contention.
“The UFL Disciplinary Committee has suspended Kyambogo University over incidences of fans hooliganism during their matches. Kyambogo is suspended for two seasons; this season and the next,” a statement read.
The suspension, if upheld, will see Kyambogo return to the league after in 2025.
Kyambogo was second in group standings behind leaders Makerere. Ndejje and Muni were in the same Group C.
UFL has strongly condemned irrational acts by supporters and several institutions have tasted the committee’s wrath.
Kyambogo becomes the second team in this year’s edition to be axed following the expulsion of Bishop Stuart University (BSU) over impersonation.
It is expected of Kyambogo to appeal the decision with UFL unlikely to change its stance.
