Candidate classes in International Schools in Uganda have been given a go-ahead to conduct physical exams, Campus Bee has learned.
The development was revealed today at the Uganda Media Center by Mr Dennis Mugimba, the spokesperson of the education and sports ministry who also took a swipe on the false news circulating concerning the date of re-opening schools country wide.
“Ministry of Education and Sports only granted candidate classes in international schools to be in school to sit for their exams. International schools are not reopened; only candidates are allowed to sit for exams” said Mr Mugimba
“The general date of reopening schools that has been on social media did not come from the ministry of education and sports.” He said.
A number of institutions have devised means to enable the completion of the pending semesters by conduction online exams, and open book exams, a move which they believe is the only way to go amid reopening uncertainty.
Makerere University has extended the scheduled online assessments to give students and staff ample time to prepare and be fit to hold the said exams, according to the institution’s Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof Umar Kakumba.
“The examination assessment period has been extended to September 13 and will be concluded on September 30…Please organize accordingly” Prof Kakumba said in a statement.
