Schools and institutions of learning are expected to be closed once again as the country experiences a resurgence of the deadly COVID-19, an inside source at the national taskforce has revealed to Campus Bee.
“Closing schools at this point of the COVID-19 resurgence is inevitable, we have to consider the lives of students with utmost priority” the source revealed.
The development comes a week after one of the top public insitiutions in the country;
Kyambogoo University recorded various Corona Virus related cases. The worryingly increasing infections amongst the students in the Banda-based university sparked panic leading to suspension of on-campus activities including lectures.
President Museveni is expected to address the nation tomorrow (Sunday)
on the measures that have been agreed upon to contain the second wave of this deadly contagion in the nation.
A number of universities such as Isbat University, Victoria University among others have stepped up to adopt online distance mode of learning with all classes administered through e-learning platforms.
In other news, our snoops photographed one of the covid-19 patients reportedly from Kyambogo University being “airlifted from the campus west-end pitch” to hospital. We are yet to establish how severe the patient’s condition was.
Schools were previously closed in March last year when the COVID-19 disease had just broken loose, affecting various sides of education such as the academic calendar, and promotion system. The revised academic calendar forced students to return to school in segments.
As it stands, Uganda has registered over 1000 positive cases daily for the past few days.Expectations are high as the nation awaits the president’s address on the situation. We’ll keep you up to speed with all the developments.
