The body of Isaac Wanderemah, a Ugandan student who reportedly fell from the 12th floor of a building in Moscow and died instantly, has been repatriated back home, Uganda.
Isaac was a 22 year – old Ugandan student who was pursuing a course in Aircraft Engineering at Moscow Aviation Institute (MAI) when the unfortunate happened. His friends at the Institute attributed the incident to depression.
The Russian government had initially given the late Isaac’s family a 10-day ultimatum to repatriate the body or have the remains burnt.
Mr Wanderemah Richard, the father to the deceased made a joint effort with the rest of the family to raise money for the treatment of the deceased’s body and eventual repatriation which cost about shs 1.1M per week for a period of 8 weeks until its repatriation.
The deceased’s father, Richard revealed that all the repatriation plans were a success with help from Dickson Ogwang, a Foreign Service Officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Richard further adds that in addition to Ogwang’s help, President Yoweri Museveni stepped in to assist the family financially in the repatriation process.
“It is indeed a big miracle to have President Museveni. For us to have this body here in Uganda is a miracle because we had been given only 10 days to repatriate the body or have it buried in Moscow. At least, we can now breathe. I thank the Ministry of Foreign affairs, Embassy Mission of Uganda in Moscow and particularly President Museveni for miraculously supporting the repatriation,” Richard said.
According to family, the late Isaac Wanderemah will finally be laid to rest in Bududa district on Friday and all plans are underway.
