Mr. Alfred Masikye Namoah, the Makerere University Academic Registrar has issued new guidelines ahead of this year’s fresher’s orientation, which is expected to kick off on Monday, 1st February 2021.
According to the recent communication from Masikye, every Makerere University fresher should report with a laptop to enable him/her study online, as instructed by the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE).
“Each first year student admitted to any Makerere University programme must have a laptop computer as one of the essential study tools for the programme.” Masikye’s statement reads in part.
Masikye further informed first year students that they have between 1st and 12th February 2021 to change their programme/subjects which will be done online.
This year’s fresher’s orientation and registration will be done virtually between Monday 1st February and Saturday 6th February 2021 at various colleges in Makerere. Each college has been given two days to hold fresher’s orientation while observing prevention measures against COVID-19.
The letter further indicates that collages will also handle verification of freshers academic documents and enrollment into the AIMS system. Freshers will also be given students’ email (@mak emails) to enable them sign up for the university’s e-learning platform (MUELE).
