Following a letter that was sent to National Council for Higher Education – NCHE by Mbaziira John, a Kyambogo University student leader about the struggling and failed online learning, the council has promised to intervene in the matter.
According to a letter signed by NCHE Executive Director, Prof. Mary Okwakol, the council has confirmed receipt of the letter and further vowed to advise accordingly basing on Mbaziira’s letter.
“In line with the above mandate, NCHE will rely on the information you provided to the management of Kyambogo University for their response. On receipt of response from Kyambogo University, NCHE will advise accordingly.” Part of the letter reads.
Mbaziira and fellow students were further advised remain calm and prepare to resume studies as programmed by the Kyambogo University administration in line with directions issued by the Ministry of Health on reopening.
Kyambogo University reopened for continuing students on 1st March 2021 for on campus studies but students are reportedly roaming around following a strike announced by lecturers in public universities. The university will be conducting blended learning where continuing students will be required to study online when freshers report on 10th April.
Mbaziira disclosed that the online mode of teaching and learning failed to work before universities were allowed to open for on campus studies.
