A sombre mood engulfed mourners in Kigogwe, Wakiso district who had gathered to pay their last respects to Nsubuga Ashraf, a fourth-year Bachelor of Medical Radiography student that sadly took his own life on the morning of 29th September 2019. He was reportedly suffering from depression.
Nsubuga Ashraf was accorded a Moslem burial and numerous Islamic leaders delivered messages aimed at comforting the family.
The family speech was delivered by the deceased’s uncle who encouraged youth to always speak out about their personal struggles with close relatives and friends. Furthermore, he called upon mourners to avoid judging the deceased.
His father Muhammad Mulambuzi was not able to attend the burial because he is currently out of the country.
Other condolence messages were delivered by Makerere University administration, Kawempe Muslim Secondary school, and local leaders.
Nsubuga, who is said to be 22 years old and a student in the university’s college of health sciences on government sponsorship was pursuing a Bachelor of Sceinces in Medical Radiology. Some of the deceased’s colleagues allege that Nsubuga was involved in online network marketing, where he lost close to Shs18 million to a ponzi scheme.
